Nightly Grades 2.12.13: Rudy Gay does it again

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Each night, Eye on Basketball brings you what you need to know about the games of the NBA. From great performances to terrible clock management, the report card evaluates and eviscerates the good, the bad and the ugly from the night that was.

Rudy Gay and the RaptorsAttention, NBA: If the Raptors need a bucket to tie or win, they're going to Rudy Gay, and he's going to the right baseline for a pull-up jumper. And he's more than likely going to make it. For the second time since he has moved to Toronto, Gay won it late for the Raptors, this time topping the Nuggets with a bucket with 4.8 seconds left.
Utah JazzA big-time bounce-back win for the Jazz, who ran the Thunder out of their building in the fourth quarter for a 109-94 win. OKC couldn't handle Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson on the inside, and Utah's perimeter players punished them when they tried to double. A perfect takedown of one of the league's elite.
Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris BoshLeBron was awesome again, so what's new? But those three combined for 86 of Miami's 117 points. LeBron had 30 on 11-of-15 shooting, Bosh had 32 on 13-of-16 and Wade had 24 on 8-of-18. It's like they're pretty good or something.
Damian Lillard, LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley MatthewsPortland's three couldn't match Miami's, but they gave a terrific effort. Lillard, Aldridge and Matthews combined for 82 of Portland's 104. Lillard had 33, Aldridge 29 and Matthews 20.
Kobe BryantHe didn't attempt a shot in the first half and went 1-8 for four points but did have nine assists. But, hey, the Lakers won, which is what was important. Still: weird.
Golden State WarriorsIt's not time to panic, but yeesh, the Warriors have not performed well as of late. They've lost their last five games, and have been waxed in most of them. They didn't get any revenge on the Rockets for their previous 3-point barrage, instead fading late in a 116-107 loss. The Rockets are solid, but the Warriors aren't playing well right now, and it's concerning.
Blazers not named Damian, LaMarcus or WesleyThey combined for 22 total points on 8-22 shooting. Just something else, and the Blazers could've knocked off the Heat.
Thunder in the fourthIt was the first time that Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant played in a fourth quarter in 10 days, and I think they forgot how to do it. OKC collapsed in Utah scoring just 15 points in the final frame, losing a game by 15 in which they shot 55.9 percent from the field.
