Carmelo Anthony suffers right arm contusion, could miss All-Star Game

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Carmelo Anthony labored through a 5-of-24 shooting night against the Raptors Wednesday that netted him only 12 points. And the Knicks lost 92-88.

But Anthony had good reason to be so off. He took a knock from DeMar DeRozan in his upper right arm in the first quarter and it stayed with him the rest of the game.

After the game, Anthony told reporters, "It was kind of like a dead arm out there."

Officially, the Knicks are calling it a "right arm contusion" and he's day to day. But Melo did say Sunday's All-Star Game could be in question for him unless the injury improves.

More than likely, he'll play, but maybe just more limited minutes than previously anticipated. We'll see.

As for the other big question: If Anthony's arm was numb, why did he keep firing up shots, eventually totaling 24 with only five makes?

"You'd have to be a shooter to understand," he said, via the Wall Street Journal.

OK, then.
