Toronto Raptors' forward Rudy Gay is just causing problems all over the place. Initially, his contract and play seemed to be a big enough worry to get the Memphis Grizzlies to trade him recently. This caused pundits all over the Internet to wonder if he was overpaid, under-utilized, or overrated. People wondered if it was a huge mistake for the Grizzlies to trade him. People wondered if it was a huge mistake for the Raptors to trade for him.
Nobody knew what to do with Rudy Gay. Then in the second quarter of the Raptors' game against the Washington Wizards, he torched his opponents for 12 points. This caused him and Washington D.C.-born rapper Wale to exchange words with Gay after Rudy made a 3-pointer.
This led to the Raptors' announcers mentioning the exchange on air before play-by-play announcer Matt Devlin said, "Wale's inspiring. And I'm sure somebody on Twitter can tell me exactly if they've ever heard of Wale. He's not Drake; that's for sure."
BOOM! Nailed it.
But it doesn't end there! Wale apparently heard all about this quip and tweeted out:
@mattdevlinraps watch ur mouth— Wale Folarin(@Wale) February 20, 2013
No big deal, right? We're not done yet!
Wale then tried to talk to the Raptors' announcing team.
Sadly, Wale didn't exactly join the Raptors' broadcast team for the fourth quarter, but they may have smoothed things over during the break between the third and fourth quarters. Wale must be okay now because he tweeted out, "Shoutout to T dot tho !!! Ha"
It may have been a PR move though:
After the game, Rudy Gay tweeted about his exchange with Wale to make sure everybody knew it was all in good fun.
Me and @wale was just joking y'all. Thats my boy right there.— Rudy Gay (@rudygay22) February 20, 2013
Let's see if Matt Devlin ends up tweeting something similar next time he logs on.
Just another night in the NBA.
