I'm joined today by Dan Devine of Yahoo Sports' NBA blog Ball Don't Lie. Dan is an incredibly insightful and witty writer who covers the NBA with a unique perspective. We discuss how he keeps that perspective while still trying to maintain a balance between the old guard of how people view the NBA and the new direction of where NBA analysis is going. How does he attempt to approach stories while still maintaining a distinct voice? How was his first All-Star experience?
Dan recently wrote a piece about San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker being awesome but not being the MVP of the league and why it's OK to recognize all of that. The reaction he got was a curious one -- accusations that he hates Parker and doesn't respect him enough as a player. How does he handle a reaction like that when he clearly stated his appreciation for Parker's play? And how does he handle his own New York Knicks fandom while being a writer?
We discuss all of this, plus talk about Rick Brunson, sports talk culture and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
