Hornets' Jason Smith done for the season with torn labrum

By Royce Young | NBA writer

The Hornets have battled the injury bug all season and now have been bitten hard.

Forward Jason Smith will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder that will require surgery.

A timetable for his recovery will be released after the surgery.

Smith, who will turn 27 on Saturday, is averaging 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 51 appearances this season. He's signed through next season, though his $2.5 million contract is not guaranteed.
