The first time that Aaron Brooks was a member of the Houston Rockets, he nearly averaged 20 points in a season and won the 2010 Most Improved Player award. After being bought out by the Sacramento Kings, he reportedly could be headed back to Houston to join the Rockets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Brooks, 28, has had a pretty big fall since his Most Improved season. That year, he averaged 19.6 points on 43.2 percent from the field and 5.3 assists for a Rockets team that finished 42-40 despite missing Tracy McGrady for all but six games -- he was traded to New York at the deadline -- and Yao Ming for the entire season. Since then, he struggled through half a season with Houston before being traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he continued to disappoint.

During the lockout-shortened season in 2011-12, Brooks spent the entire season in China playing for the Guangdong Southern Tigers. He returned to the NBA this season in the crowded backcourt of the Kings. He has played in 46 games, started 20, and had the best shooting season of his career with a 56.2 true shooting percentage.

If Brooks does indeed join the Rockets, he'll battle with Patrick Beverley for the job of backing up Jeremy Lin at point guard. Toney Douglas had been playing the majority of the backup minutes behind Lin but was traded to the Kings right before the trade deadline in the deal that brought Thomas Robinson to Houston.
