Kobe Bryant out vs. Kings Sunday night, Gasol return pushed back

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

After having to leave the game vs. the Pacers at the half, Lakers G Kobe Bryant won't even be giving it a go vs. the Kings and will sit out Sunday night.

It's a sign of the severity of the injury he suffered that it's kept him out more than a game. Bryant notoriously plays through any and all pain. But considering the Lakers are playing their best basketball, and with the Kings a much weaker team than the Pacers -- a team the Lakers handled on Friday -- it's acceptable for him to sit.

Meanwhile, Pau Gasol's return has been pushed back from Monday to Friday after a setback with his foot. That still gives the Lakers plenty of time to get the entire team back to full health before the playoffs begin in a month's time.

Bryant is averaging 27 points on 47 percent shooting this season with five rebounds and five assists this season. He was injured on what he felt was a dirty play from Dahntay Jones.
