Eye on Basketball Podcast: Down the stretch they come

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

The weekend is over, and the 2012-13 regular season nearly is, too. Matt Moore joins me to talk about the stretch run for the end of the regular season and the fight for the eighth seed between the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. Which team has the most favorable schedule? Which is playing the best? What are the key games coming up? How do Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves factor into this whole ordeal?

Speaking of the playoffs, we touch on the different ideas for sprucing up the postseason. How feasible would George Karl's idea be of taking the top eight teams from each conference and then reseeding them 1-16? Should we just get rid of divisions altogether, or is there some marketing reason that keeps them around? And what about Bill Simmons' idea of the tournament for the eighth seed? Which teams would win?

We discuss all of that, plus the Grizzlies' defense, J.R. Smith's run, and preview Monday night's games.
