Celtics' Paul Pierce out Monday against Timberwolves

The Celtics will be without Paul Pierce against the Timberwolves on Monday night, according to the team's Twitter account.

Though Pierce was considered doubtful with a sprained ankle suffered Sunday against the Knicks, he is out for what is listed as "personal reasons." He did not travel with the team.

Without both Pierce and Kevin Garnett, who is still out with a sore left ankle, the Celtics will likely start Jeff Green, Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox in their frontcourt.

Pierce, 35, is averaging 18.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
