Warriors' Stephen Curry active, will start Game 4 vs. Spurs

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

Update 5.12.13 2:54 p.m. : Curry is active and starting. Pre-game reports said he was moving "fine" on the ankle in warmups.

With less than five minutes left in Game 3 between the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry took another bad step, like we've seen him do far too many times in his career, and rolled his surgically repaired left ankle. He refused to leave the game and tried to be tougher than the pain he was feeling, but was largely ineffective the rest of the game.

Curry had X-rays on his ankle and they came back negative. He's a gametime decision for Sunday's Game 4.

It's hard to imagine that Curry would sit out Game 4 because the Warriors are down 2-1 in the series and need to win the next game if they want to realistically think about upsetting the Spurs in this series. But he have only about a day-and-a-half of rest to turn around and be ready for Sunday's game.

The Warriors will definitely need him. During the playoffs so far, Curry has only been on the bench for 59 minutes of game action. When he's on the court, the Warriors' offense is getting 110.8 points per 100 possessions. When he's on the bench, the offense drops down to 83.0 points per 100 possessions. It's even more severe in the second round against San Antonio. He's only been on the bench for about 11 minutes against the Spurs, but the Warriors score a meager 59.4 points per 100 possessions. That number jumps to 109.2 when he's in the game.
