Carl Landry opts out contract, will become free agent

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Hoping to cash in on a pretty solid season, forward Carl Landry has opted out of the final year of his contract with the Warriors to become an unrestricted free agent, via the AP.

Landry, 29, had a player option on the final year of his contract that would pay him $4 million. After a very good season in the Bay Area and a strong performance in the postseason, Landry could be a valuable target on the open market.

A bruising 6-foot-9 power forward, Landry has made a name for himself as a quality role player who can defend, rebound and knock down a midrange jumper.

Landry averaged 10.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in 81 games last season.
