Report: Brandon Jennings demanding $12 million a year

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

Here's the awesome thing about having too much confidence: Sometimes you actually get other people to believe you're as awesome as you think you are.

Example: The Racine Journal-Times reports that Bucks free agent guard Brandon Jennings is demanding $12 million per year, and the Bucks are actually starting to bend in that direction.

Now, $11 million is very much in line with the standard raise for point guards coming off their rookie contract. Steph Curry is a good example. Before you start screaming about how much better Steph Curry is, and he is, remember that Curry was coming into his extension with serious ankle issues that were a major red flag. Ty Lawson got $12 million. Is Jennings better than Ty Lawson. Well, no.

But he thinks he is. And that's working to his advantage here. The Hawks are interested in a swap of Jennings and their own Jeff Teague, Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports. At $12 million a year, that would significantly eat into Atlanta's newfound cap space. For Milwaukee, they've already made a series of moves that seem to indicate they just love getting swept in the first round (adding veterans who are good, not great, signing guys at redundant positions).

If Jennings manages to pull this off, he should write a book. It will become the new How to Win Friends and Influence People, only this time it's How to Get Paid $12 Million Per Year Shooting 40 Percent From the Floor.
