Raptors buy out Marcus Camby

By Royce Young | NBA writer

If Marcus Camby intends to continue his NBA career, he'll need to find his ninth team to play on.

The Raptors announced Wednesday they have reached a buyout agreement with Camby, placing the center on waivers.

The 39-year-old big man was traded to the Raptors a few weeks ago in the deal that sent Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks. Camby was set to make $4.3 million next season. By waiving him, the Raptors shave a little salary off their roster as well as open up another valuable roster spot.

Camby now has the opportunity to try to find a contender as the long-time vet doesn't have much interest in playing for a rebuilding team. Or he could simply retire, which seems to be a very real option.

With the Knicks last season, Camby averaged 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 24 games.
