Report: Rajon Rondo set to leave Nike for Chinese company Anta

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

The Boston Globe snuck in this tidbit at the end of one of their columns this weekend:

Rajon Rondo has rehabilitated quietly from his torn right anterior cruciate ligament, but could make headlines off the court by potentially changing shoe companies from Nike to Anta, the Chinese company that nabbed former Celtic Kevin Garnett a few years ago.

via NBA notes: Departure from Seattle a bad memory for new Hall of Famer Gary Payton - Sports - The Boston Globe.

The Celtics point guard signed with the industry giant Nike in 2008, but in recent years more and more NBA players have opted for deals with Chinese companies. Dwyane Wade is another major star to take his kicks overseas, and Rondo would be another major player to head that way.

Celtics blog Reds' Army indicated last week that the company's official website has a silhouette that looks an awful lot like Rondo. Signs seem to point more and more to a conversion for Rondo. Rondo is continuing his rehabilitiation from ACL surgery and is also endorsed by Red Bull energy drink.
