Stevens on Rondo: "It's very indeterminate now. I think it's unlikely that he'll be ready for the start of the season."— Ben Rohrbach (@brohrbach) September 24, 2013
CSN New England reported last week that Rondo would miss the preseason and part of the regular season as he continues to recover from his surgery to repair a torn ACL.
Rondo's return will point a lot toward whether the Celtics will be genuinely trying to compete or tanking, a concept Danny Ainge adamantly denies the Celtics will pursue. Missing any significant time could prove costly for an already depleted roster after the draft-night trade of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.
Without Rondo, Avery Bradley would likely be the starting point guard, though he's dealing with injuries and personal issues at the moment as well.
