76ers' Moultrie to miss half the season with ankle injury

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Friday that forward Arnett Moultrie will miss a sigificant portion of the season after undergoing ankle surgery on Thursday.

The 22-year-old, 6-foot-11 forward averaged four points and three assists for the Sixers last season, but played just 12 minutes per game, for some reason. He showed good flashes, and this is an unfortunate setback.

But of course, the flip side is this only helps the Sixers' rather transparent efforts to tank the season in pursuit of a top-three pick in a loaded draft. It's a really unfortunate injury that the Sixers would never want for any of their players, but t's impossible to avoid the implications of a talented forward missing half the year.
