VIDEO: Jordan says Kobe, not LeBron, could beat him in his prime

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

Hey, here's some controversial news. The most competitive basketball player to ever live thinks that in his prime he could beat Miami Heat forward LeBron James one-on-one. In an interview with 2K Sports for today's release of NBA 2K14, Jordan weighed in on a long list of players, past and present and whether they could take his Airness one-on-one. LeBron came up.

"I don't think I would lose," Jordan said in the video, before smiling and adding, "Other than to Kobe Bryant because he steals all of my moves."

This is actually nothing new from Jordan. Jordan took Bryant earlier this year in a question of which one he would pick. He also said James would not be as successful in Jordan's era.

It's comparing apples to oranges, but I'm not going to dispute Jordan's assessment. Jordan's game is better suited to one-on-one. As freakishly strong as James is, Jordan was surprisingly strong, and has a much higher competitive streak. He was a better shooter and better ball handler.

As for whether Bryant could take him, this seems more like a designed shot at Kobe than anything else, but Jordan also identifies more with Bryant both as a guard and as someone with a similarly obsessive will to win. Either way, it doesn't seem like James is ever going to get much in the way of an "attaboy" from the Greatest Of All Time.
