Lang Whitaker of NBA.com's All Ball Blog joins me today to discuss the mystery of adding muscle as an NBA player. Lang's Muscle Watch is one of the better offseason features in sports blogging as he tracks the claims of players trying to get into the best shape of their lives. Every season we hear that a player put on 15-20 lbs. of muscle or they lost 15 lbs., whichever weight change is the most advantageous for them. Are Krispy Kreme donuts the key to such a dramatic change? Has Rudy Gay added an unreasonable amount of muscle since 2009?
With the Atlanta Hawks and the Los Angeles Lakers, nobody seems to be able to agree on how good either of these teams will be. The Lakers are still riding the mystique of the comback from Kobe Bryant saving their season and pushing them toward the playoffs but is that feasable? Will they be able to tread water with their health? For the Hawks, are they a lock for the sixth seed in the East or did the change to Paul Millsap from Josh Smith impact them too much in transition and on defense?
We discuss all of this, plus animal tattoos, buying a cow, and pickup basketball.
