Rockets' Marcus Camby out weeks with torn plantar fascia

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Marcus Camby is 39 years old, and hanging on dearly to his NBA career.

And he has been dealt yet another setback. Via the Houston Chronicle, the aging center is dealing with a torn plantar fascia in his foot which is set to keep him out weeks, and maybe months.

“My plantar fascia is torn,” Camby said. “I'm trying to do whatever I can to avoid surgery. We're just going to rehab it and see how it goes in the next two weeks and take it from there. We don't want to rehab it and nurse it and have it still be lingering. That is something I'm going to sit back and figure out and definitely look toward long term, as the season progresses to the second half of the season. I have to be smart about it.”

Good news for the Rockets: They have Dwight Howard and Omer Asik. I'm thinking they're pretty OK in the big man department.

The rub here is that the Rockets have been rumored to be shopping Asik and if they were to find a taker, that could suddenly complicate their frontcourt depth. Behind Howard, you don't need much, but you have to have someone serviceable and while a healthy Camby would do just fine, thing is, he's not, you know, healthy.
