Bobcats' Al Jefferson suffers sprained ankle against Heat

Newly signed Bobcats center Al Jefferson had to be carried off the floor Friday night in a preseason game against the Heat with an apparent leg injury.

The Bobcats later announced Jefferson suffered a sprained right ankle, though initial reports from the game said it appeared to be a knee injury.

Via Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald, Jefferson looked "really hurt."

Jefferson, 28, signed with the Bobcats this summer as a free agent for $41 million over three years. He's battled knee injuries before, tearing his meniscus as a rookie and his right ACL during the 2008-09 season.
