The NBA announced Thursday it has suspended Phoenix forward Markieff Morris for the Suns' opener for an elbow to Serge Ibaka. From the NBA:

The Phoenix Suns' Markieff Morris has been suspended one game without pay for elbowing the Oklahoma City Thunder's Serge Ibaka in the face, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with 6:42 remaining in the third quarter of the Suns' 88-76 victory over the Thunder on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at US Airways Center.

Morris will be suspended for the Suns' first 2013-14 regular season-game in which he is eligible and physically able to play.

Morris, a third-year foward out of Kansas, averaged eight points and five rebounds on 41 percent shooting last season for the Suns.
