Roy Hibbert wants to win Defensive Player of the Year

Roy Hibbert isn't being shy when it comes to talking about his goals for this season.

He wants to win Defensive Player of the Year.

After his Pacers beat up on the Bulls to improve to 5-0, a game in which Hibbert clogged the paint with 10 rebounds and five blocks, Hibbert tweeted this:

Unless "DPoY" actually stands for something else in Hibbert's mind, it sounds like he has his sights on that.

And naturally, there was a little backdraft to that, with some feeling Hibbert shouldn't be focused on an individual award, as if that's selfish. But Hibbert rejected that like it was a Carlos Boozer floater.

Indeed it will. Consider: Against the Bulls on Wednesday, Hibbert was fantastic on the defense end as Boozer and Joakim Noah combined for just 10 points on 3-12 shooting. It doesn't take an advanced formula to figure it out. The better Roy Hibbert plays on defense, the better the Pacers play as a team.

Feeling good about that, Hibbert went ahead and threw out another thing:

Let's not get too carried away here, Roy. But then again, with the way George has started this season both offensively and defensively, and the way the Pacers are playing, he may have a strong case.
