Each night, Eye on Basketball brings you what you need to know about the games of the NBA. From great performances to terrible clock management the report card evaluates and eviscerates the good, the bad, and the ugly from the night that was.
|D||Gave good effort and only loss by a few possessions, but the Wizards were without Bradley Beal. You need something better than what they had tonight. Too many questionable shots that didn't go in, but then, that's kind of their offense.|
|B+||Without Beal, you knew they were going to struggle. Finishing this off, even at home, took some guts. Nene was terrific, especially in the post against Pau Gasol. John Wall is really establishing himself as a dominant point guard and Martell Webster was fantastic. Their defense left some to be desired, but the effort was there. Need better consistency, but, you know, been saying that about Washington for a decade.|
|F---||After digging a massive hole, at home, vs. one of the worst teams in the league, the Raptors drew up a corner three by a power forward suffering with the flu down two. |
I can't... I mean... I can't even begin to... I can't...
|A||Not only did they win, not only did they not blow the lead, not only did they win the third quarter, but Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett looked alive. If you're going to start to turn things around, this is a pretty good way to get the formula.|
|A-||Sometimes their platoon of frontcourt guys get going and they're tough to stop. Throw in Arron Afflalo continuing to throw flame and you've got a good win. Just when you think Orlando's dead, they crawl out of the grave with a win like this.|
|F||When fans think the Hawks are an irrelevant franchise that constantly shoots itself in the foot and loses games they should win easily, this is what they mean.|
|D||The late run was fun, but they lost to a Warriors team wthout Andrew Bogut or Andre Iguodala, at home. They didn't get Anthony Davis, their best player, involved, and they let the Warriors get open in the corners, the place you cannot under any circumstances let them get open. They need a center.|
|B||Really great road win by the Warriors, short-handed. They got a big performance from Jermaine O'Neal (yes, Jermaine O'Neal), and Klay Thompson hit some big shots. Andre Iguodala was hurt, Andrew Bogut was suspended, Steph Curry didn't play especially well and they won on the road. This team is exceptionally difficult to beat.|
