Eye on Basketball Podcast: Kobe returning, Rudy going, Swag spinning

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

There were a few big news items yesterday and Matt Moore joins me to go over what went down. The biggest story of the night was the return of Kobe Bryant to the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant's return to the court after tearing his Achilles' tendon in April didn't yield the results we might have hoped for in terms of production, but he's started the process of getting the rust off of his game. How did he look? Is the quickness there? How did we like his decision to be more of a facilitator? Which teammates work best with him?

Then we discuss the big trade of the season so far with the Sacramento Kings trading for Rudy Gay, Aaron Gray, and Quincy Acy in exchange for the Toronto Raptors receiving Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, Chuck Hayes, and John Salmons. Is this actually a bad trade for the Kings? How do we judge the direction they're headed? Can you make Rudy Gay work with DeMarcus Cousins? Will the Raptors start trading off all of their valuable players? Who is next? Is anybody safe?

We discuss all of that, plus Nick Young spinning swag, Omer Asik's trade situation, and preview tonight's games.
