Each night, Eye on Basketball brings you what you need to know about the games of the NBA. From great performances to terrible clock management the report card evaluates and eviscerates the good, the bad, and the ugly from the night that was.
Steph Curry's 43 points looks great. It was not great. He took 32 shots and was forcing it. When the Warriors have all those crazy shots dropping, it's awesome and looks super fun. But when they're not, they really don't have another plan of attack.
Their interior defense was a mess, especially David Lee and Andrew Bogut, and Harrison Barnes and Steph Curry took turns getting roasted into ash by Kemba Walker. This team needs Andre Iguodala back more than it needs air to breathe.
Terrific win. Bobcats were short-handed as well, without Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeff Taylor, and Bismack Biyombo, and they just took it to Golden State. They attacked defensively while staying home and were excellent in creating offensive looks. Kemba Walker and Gerald Henderson were superb and Josh McRoberts made a bunch of huge plays.
This team honestly is pretty good.
Another loss. A good push, but Memphis is so banged up, Orlando should have made a better push than this. They just gave up way too many looks inside and are undisciplined offensively. Blech.
Built a 24-point lead and then let it get down to four inside three minutes. Needed to close better, but they're so banged up you can't blame them for getting tired. It's a win, but it's not really clear where they're going with all the injuries anyway.
Mechanical victory. Out-talented and out-executed an inferior team. The defense has some lapses, but the offense is going to be good enough more times than not.
Sometimes you're just outclassed. Sometimes your front office plans it that way.
This is the kind of win Brian Shaw lives for. Gritty, ugly, and requireing tougness and determination. The Nuggets just battled the entire game, wore on the Wizards, and waited for them to expose their weakness. It happened, the Nuggets pounced on it, and made the plays to finish them and get the one-point win to finish the road trip.
It was ugly, but a great win.
They always have a plan, but sometimes they try and execute it and just fall into the bathtub while holding the toaster. They needed to get this one. Bad loss.
