Report: Lakers to sign point guard Kendall Marshall from D-League

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

The Lakers, struggling with the loss of Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Jordan Farmar, and Steve Blake to various injuries, have signed D-League point guard Kendall Marshall to a contract according to a report from Yahoo Sports.

Marshall, a first-round pick out of North Carolina, averaged three points and three assists last year for Phoenix. He was traded to Washington in the Marcin Gortat trade and then waived in the offseason.

He joined the Delaward 87's of the D-League and averaged 19 points and 10 assist in seven games. His pass-first style should fit well with Mike D'Antoni's system, but his lack of athleticism make him only a temporary stopgap before Jordan Farmar's exected return after the start of the year.
