Eye on Basketball Podcast: Frustrations, injuries, and the wheel

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

Matt Moore joins me for today's podcast and we talk about the disappointing and frustrating start to the Minnesota Timberwolves' season. Is it a complete loss for the Wolves and how should we view their collapse against the Los Angeles Clippers? Are they in trouble yet or should we give them a chance to see if they can take advantage of an easy January schedule? Should the scoring struggles of Ricky Rubio make Wolves' fans worry?

Since we last talked on the podcast, we've had two major injuries in the NBA. Kobe Bryant is going to miss the next six weeks with a fracture in his kneecap, possibly ending the Los Angeles Lakers' playoff hopes. Brook Lopez is out for the year with a broken foot and the Brooklyn Nets' demise may be official for the entire season. Can both of these teams still accomplish their goals? Can the Lakers survive and make the playoffs? Can the Nets still secure a top 4 seed in the East even with such a big loss? How much do they have to avoid the Indiana Pacers?

We discuss all of that, plus the draft wheel concept, preview tonight's games, and look ahead to Christmas Day games.
