Knicks' Carmelo Anthony out (ankle) against the Thunder

By Royce Young | NBA writer

The Knicks woke up on Christmas and found coal in their stocking.

The team announced forward Carmelo Anthony would be out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder because of a sprained ankle. Anthony was said to be a game-time decision.

Anthony injured the ankle in Monday's game against the Magic.

Without Anthony, the Knicks could move Tim Hardaway Jr. into the starting five playing Iman Shumpert at small forward.

Anthony's absence is obviously a blow to a marquee Christmas game that would've featured him matching up with Kevin Durant. Instead, it's a depleted Knicks squad taking on a Western Conferenc power. Oh boy.

Anthony, 29, is averaging 26.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season.
