Clippers waive Stephen Jackson

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Captain Jack, Lob City hardly knew ye.

The Clippers announced Tuesday they've waived guard Stephen Jackson, who signed with the team Dec. 10.

"He was really, really great," Doc Rivers told reporters. "It was more, once Chris went down, we needed guards."

Chris Paul is out for up to six weeks because of a separated shoulder, making the Clippers extremely thin in the backcourt.

Jackson appeared in nine games for the Clippers and was added when the team was dealing with injuries to Jared Dudley and Matt Barnes.

The Clippers roster now stands at 14, opening up the option to sign some needed backcourt help.

Jackson averaged 1.7 points and 1.1 rebounds in 11.9 minutes and nine apperances.
