The Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls could be shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic at the moment. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the two teams are finalizing a deal that would send Tornike Shengelia to the Bulls in exchange for point guard Marquis Teague.

Why would either team do this? The Nets have a separate deal moving Tyshawn Taylor with cash to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a future draft pick, likely a protected second rounder. Shengelia has only played 137 minutes in 17 games this season and with the rotation of forwards for the Nets healthy, he's unlikely to see more time in the near future.

Acquiring Teague, a former first round pick of the Bulls in the 2012 draft, allows them to keep point guard depth behind Deron Williams and Shaun Livingston as Williams tries to come back from therapy procedures on his ankles that have kept him out since January 4.

For the Bulls, they get out of the guaranteed money committed to Teague through 2015 and can rely on Kirk Hinrich and D.J. Augustin for the rest of this season. Teague has spent time in the D-League this season and only made 24.2 percent of his shots when he was given time with the Bulls in 2013-14.
