New York Knicks' forward Carmelo Anthony is part of the 28-player pool of NBA players that Team USA Basketball officially announced on Thursday. Don't expect him to join his fellow Team USA teammates this summer in Spain when they play in the 2014 FIBA World Championship though.

Anthony told reporters that while he has the invitation to play in the next two international tournaments for Team USA basketball, he's not planning on playing in 2014 and is unsure as to whether or not he'll play in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

It makes sense that Anthony wouldn't make the commitment for the 2014 games in Spain because it's expected he'll opt out of his contract with the Knicks this summer and be a free agent. Free agents rarely commit the time or energy while risking injury to participate in international tournaments. As for the 2016 Olympic games, he'll be 32 years old when the games go to Brazil and could feel he's too old to participate for a third gold medal and fourth Olympic medal overall.
