Nightly Grades: Suns jump the Pacers, again

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Each night, Eye on Basketball brings you what you need to know about the games of the NBA. From great performances to terrible clock management the report card evaluates and eviscerates the good, the bad, and the ugly from the night that was.

That's four straight wins for the Knicks. Let me try that again: THAT'S FOUR STRAIGHT WINS FOR THE KNICKS. A team left completely for dead two weeks ago is showing a little life. Yes, they rolled a pathetic Cavs team tonight, but these are the games the Knicks were painfully losing earlier in the season.

They're scoring at impressive rates, and getting quality contribution from all over. Can it sustain? Can they actually continue to push back toward .500? As we've seen with the Knicks all this could fall apart just as quickly as it started.

The Suns have topped the Pacers twice this season now, and while Indiana used a 25-11 third quarter to get back in the game, the Suns controlled it from tipoff and led throughout.

Spurned in an All-Star bid, Goran Dragic dropped 28 and seven assists as the Suns just keep plugging along. What an impressive, tough bunch.

AIt was an impressive win against a team they very badly wanted to beat. They manhandled the Clippers from the first quarter on, pushing back on any attempt at a run. Andrew Bogut really was the difference with 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Stephen Curry went 8-10 for 22 points and seven assists. A very good win, and a necessary one.
DThey got whipped. But this was the fourth game in five nights for the Clippers and of course, they're trying to manage without Chris Paul. The Warriors beat them down and while Blake Griffin continued his impressive run with 27 points on 11-21 shooting, the Clippers went 1-15 from the field in the third quarter, getting outscored 26-11. That was the game right there.

The Pacers fancy themselves a title contender. To which they are. But of their 10 losses, half have come to the West, with all but one of them coming by two possessions or more. Whether it's a lack of focus or just athleticism matchup issues, the Pacers got dismantled by the Suns tonight.

FJust an embarrassing team right now. There's nothing redeemable about this game. The Cavs looked like a disaster. Just a mess of players with no real scheme or identity. What is the direction of this franchise right now? And why are they wasting so much talent?
