Knicks PG Felton pays bail on gun charge, has court date set for June 2

By Eye on Basketball staff

Update: Felton was released on $25,000 bail and has a court date set for June 2, and is expected to be with the Knicks when they play the Heat on Thursday.

Knicks guard Raymond Felton was arrested early Tuesday and later appeared in court where he was charged with two felony weapons counts.

A Knicks' spokesman had no comment on the arrest. Neither Felton's agent, Thad Foucher, nor his attorneys could immediately be reached for comment. A law-enforcement official told the Wall Street Journal the arrest stems from a semiautomatic handgun that allegedly belongs to Mr. Felton and was left at the apartment of his estranged wife, Ariane Felton.

New York has some of the strictest gun possession laws in the nation. Police wanted to speak to Felton following the Knicks' loss Monday night to the Mavericks and he turned himself in at the 20th Precinct Station on the West Side, according to the New York Post, which reported that Felton was pointing a gun at a woman.

Felton's wife filed for divorce recently. He is in the second year of a three-year, $10 million contract and his numbers are down (10.5 ppg, six apg, 3 rpg, .296 3-point pct.) this season compared to his career numbers (13.3 ppg, 6.5 apg, 3.3 rpg, .331 3-point pct.).
