VIDEO: 76ers retire Allen Iverson's jersey

Talkin' 'bout retirement now.

The Philadelphia 76ers honored Allen Iverson at halftime of their game against the Wizards on Saturday, retiring his iconic No. 3 jersey.

"I love ya'll for believing in me, and for caring about me as a man. I love Philly to death. Best place in the world," Iverson said.

Iverson is the eighth player to have his jersey retired by the Sixers joining Charles Barkley (34), Wilt Chamberlain (13), Maurice Cheeks (10), Billy Cunningham (32), Julius Erving (6), Hal Greer (15) and Bobby Jones (24).

”Allen was a special player,” Commissioner Adam Silver said. ”The great things he did for the league far outweigh the occasional headache. I always thought even at the time of Allen Iverson's prominence in the league, he was representative of his generation.”

The team also wore "Iverson Forever" patches on their jerseys and had decals on the floor tonight.

Another fun thing: As a parting gift, the team gave Iverson a custom designed fishing boat, because that's what he said he planned to do with his retirement.
