Eye on Basketball Podcast: The idea of executive Phil Jackson

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

Matt Moore joins me on the podcast today to discuss the rumors surrounding Phil Jackson joining the New York Knicks as a front office executive. How much could he actually change the culture of the Knicks? Can he become the Pat Riley of the Knicks and help build back up this organization? How much power does he actually want? Would it be more interesting if he wanted to coach?

Marcin Gortat wants to see some fighting allowed in the NBA. Does the Washington Wizards' center have the right idea here? Or is this a horrible, horrible idea? Would a limit of 15-20 seconds for two guys throwing blows actually solve their issues like Gortat says? Would there have to be a penalty box or a penalty of a mandatory benching for a set amount of time for those that did fight in the game? Could you ever risk it spilling over into the crowd?

We discuss all of this plus, the upcoming mock drafts, the sorrows of the Pacers and Heat, and preview tonight's games.
