After Duke's win over Clemson Saturday, Coach Mike Krzyzewski indicated to reporters without expressly saying it that forward Rodney Hood will not return for his junior season. Hood is expected to be a lottery pick in June's loaded draft.
"I wish we had him for more than one year, because the growth that he's had in this year is terrific, and it's because he wants to be coached and he takes responsibility," Krzyzewski said. "Anybody's who's willing to take responsibility for his or her actions usually does better, and that's what Rodney does."
There's not much reason for Hood to return. He can't improve his stock much more than this, and he'll have accomplished quite a bit at Duke in the interim. It's possible Hood changes his mind, of course, but you should be able to interpret Coach K's comments as suficient proof he's gone.
Hood scored 13 points with three assists in Duke's ACC Tournament Final loss to UVA Sunday.
