Heat's Ray Allen out(flu) against Pacers

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Update: Allen was so sick, he didn't even travel with the team. He's out vs. the Pacers.

The Miami Heat are likely to be without Ray Allen for their showdown against the Pacers on Wednesday because of the flu.

Erik Spoelstra told reporters after shootaround that Allen did not participate and was doubtful for tonight's game.

Allen, 38, has started nine games for the Heat this season, averaging 9.7 points while shooting just 36.9 percent from 3, near a career low in 65 games this season.

The Heat hope to have Dwyane Wade back though, who sat their last game against the Blazers because of a sprained ankle. Wade has battled injuries through most of the season, sitting in 19 games. If Wade returns, he'll slot in for Allen as the starter obviously, with Norris Cole and Michael Beasley likely filling in with heavier minutes off the bench.
