The hits keep on coming for the Rockets.
Just talked to Dwight Howard. Says he will not play next 10 days due to L Ankle. Clippers meet Rockets tonight @ 5 on Prime Ticket.— Ralph Lawler (@Ohmeomy) March 29, 2014
Officially, the Rockets are listing Howard as day-to-day.
In early March, Howard had a cyst with fluid in it removed from his ankle and sat three games because of it. He talked this week about battling through it, and that he may end up resting a bit as the Rockets try and get healthy for the postseason.
“I don't want to sit out, but the most important thing is that I'm ready for the playoffs,” Howard said.
Without Howard, the Rockets will start Omer Asik at center, quite a luxury to have.
The Rockets are a game behind the Clippers -- who they play Saturday -- for the No. 3 seed. They're unlikely to push for anything above that, and hold a 3.5 game lead over the Blazers for the fourth. The wise decision for them is to rest their key players, trying to regroup for the postseason as healthy as possible.
If Howard sits 10 days, he'll miss at least five games (Cippers, Nets, Raptors, Thunder and Nuggets), potentially returnin April 8 against the Lakers.
