Van Gundy worked under Smith with the Orlando Magic from 2007 to 2012, taking the team to the NBA Finals in 2009 and the conference finals the year after that.
With the way the Van Gundy situation is looking, the Golden State Warriors have turned their attention to Steve Kerr -- officials are heading to Oklahoma City to meet with the highly sought-after coaching candidate, according to Wojnarowski.
