Utah Jazz big man Enes Kanter will not play for Turkey in the FIBA World Cup this summer, as he will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right knee, which has been irritated by quadriceps tendinitis, according to Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.

The treatment will take place on Tuesday in Chicago, according to Genessy, who added that Kanter is "optimistic" that he will be totally healthy by the start of the 2014-2015 season.

Last season was somewhat disappointing for Kanter, as he and frontcourt partner Derrick Favors didn't produce well in tandem. Then-head coach Tyrone Corbin wound up moving Kanter to the bench and starting Marvin Williams as a stretch four. Numerous skilled big men will be available when the Jazz pick at No. 5 in Thursday's draft, and what they decide to do with that selection will illustrate how they feel about going forward with the pair.
