Trevor Ariza has had a fantastic couple of seasons with the Washington Wizards as his role was dimmed down and the team asked him to do much less than when he was with the Houston Rockets. He's provided solid defense on the perimeter for them and turned into a deadly 3-point shooter last season when he made over 40 percent of his attempts from long distance. The team that gave him his first big contract is reportedly getting him back.

Sam Amick of USA Today is reporting talks between Ariza and the Rockets have completed and they've agreed to a four-year deal worth $32 million. The Rockets have cap space they need to spend before making a decision on whether or not to match Chandler Parsons' offer sheet from the Mavericks.

The Rockets had a countdown on this offer-sheet situation with Parsons. They struck out on bringing in Chris Bosh to be the third star. The plan was to sign Bosh and then match the offer sheet to Parsons, maximizing their available cap space to its fullest before that window closed. With Bosh returning to the Heat, the Rockets risked using up that cap space on Parsons by having to match his deal before they could sign anybody else. Ariza gives them another weapon from outside at significant money before matching Parsons.

Ariza averaged 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 77 games for the Wizards. He helped them get to the second round of the playoffs before losing to the Indiana Pacers. He made a career best 40.7 percent from 3-point range after setting his previous career high of 36.4 percent the season before. Ariza played for the Rockets for just one season after signing a five-year, $34 million deal in 2010. He averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists that season with the Rockets.
