SAN ANTONIO -- Tony Parker scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 100-79 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night in the final preseason game for both teams.
Manu Ginobili added 16 points and Brent Barry had 12. Spurs newcomer Francisco Elson scored 14 and Beno Udrih added 10 as the Spurs shot 41-of-73 from the field (56 percent). Tim Duncan scored nine points in just 24 minutes.
Josh Howard led the Mavs with 15 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 13 -- all in the first half.
It was the teams' first meeting since the Mavericks ousted the Spurs in seven games in the second round of the playoffs. The teams will open the season Thursday at Dallas.
The Spurs finished the opening quarter with an 8-0 run and took a 30-22 lead to the second. They built the lead to 59-41 at the half.
Parker had six points during a 13-2 run to finish the second quarter.
San Antonio missed its first four shots of the second half before Ginobili hit a 3-pointer from the corner to make it 62-45. Jason Terry answered with his own 3-pointer and DeSagana Diop scored to pull Dallas to within 12.
Parker and Ginobili scored inside and Duncan added a basket after a steal to restore a 17-point edge for the Spurs.
After that the Mavs got no closer before Coach Avery Johnson started pulling his starters. Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich did the same in the third quarter.
Former tennis great Boris Becker watched the game at courtside. Becker, now a TV sports commentator in Germany, was doing a feature this weekend on fellow countryman Nowitzki.
Both teams were clearly experimenting with their lineups in the final preseason game. The Mavs played 10 players in the first quarter alone while the Spurs tested nine early.
Spurs guard Michael Finley didn't play Friday and wasn't at the AT&T Center because of "flu-like symptoms," the team said.
