Bobcats Steve Clifford will be back coaching the team Monday
Charlotte Bobcats coach Steve Clifford will resume his coaching duties on Monday against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Charlotte Bobcats received some scary news earlier this week when head coach Steve Clifford had chest pains on Thursday. The first year coach needed to have two stents placed in his heart on Friday and he was expected to rejoin the team this coming week. Turns out the Bobcats will get their coach back on the sideline almost immediately as Clifford seems to be doing just fine following the procedure.
From the Associated Press:
The Charlotte Bobcats say head coach Steve Clifford will coach Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks after having two stents placed in his heart Friday.
The Bobcats' first-year head coach checked himself into a Charlotte hospital with chest pains Thursday night. He was hospitalized overnight and doctors performed the procedure the following day.
Associate head coach Patrick Ewing filled in as head coach against the New York Knicks on Friday night, a game the Bobcats lost 101-91 to fall to 3-3.
Clifford has been an assistant coach in the NBA since 2001 when he joined the coaching staff with the New York Knicks. He moved to the Houston Rockets staff from 2003-07 before joining the Orlando Magic from 2007-12. He was with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2012-13 season before being hired as the head coach of the Bobcats in 2013.
