Dallas Mavericks center Andrew Bogut isn't exactly surprised that Kevin Durant joined his former team. In an interview with ESPN's Tim McMahon, Bogut said that he and Golden State Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala knew before Durant signed that the team was going to trade of one of them.

"That's part of the business," Bogut said. "I think the deal was done long before the summer. I think it was done -- obviously, K.D. didn't make his concrete decision, but I think our organization knew for a while what was going to happen. That's just a part of it. Andre [Iguodala] and I knew it was one of us that was going to go, and it was me. That's part of the business. I have no gripes about it. You get a Hall of Famer -- he's going to be a Hall of Famer -- in K.D. If I'm the GM, I do the same deal. That's just the reality of the business."

Bogut is a smart man, but he is not trying to say he's clairvoyant. Nor is he necessarily alleging that there was a conspiracy. At the beginning of February, a report from The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski indicated that the Warriors were "significant frontrunners" to sign Durant if he left the Oklahoma City Thunder, and that they had planned to pursue him since before they won their 2015 championship. It was far from shocking when it was reported that Durant would meet with Golden State, and the front office had the salary-clearing trade with the Mavericks lined up in advance.

Thunder fans, of course, will be left wondering just how long Durant was thinking about the Warriors. He said this week that, during the NBA Finals, he was "basically begging" his agent, Rich Kleiman, to recommend that he go to Golden State. In July, though, he said that he was "torn" about making the decision the night before he announced it, and calling Oklahoma City was "the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life." Maybe this was one of those things where he and the Warriors knew where he wanted to be, but they could not be totally sure he'd go through with it until he did.
