Calipari denies Nets rumors, plans on being at Kentucky for 'a long time'
John Calipari says he's not negotiating with any NBA teams and will be at Kentucky for "a long time."
With no head coach and GM, Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark reportedly wants to bring in John Calipari from the University of Kentucky to become the team's coach and president. Calipari reportedly may consider making the jump back to the NBA, if he can get a 10-year, $120 million dollar contract.
With all of these reports swirling around, Calipari responded to the rumors on Monday via Twitter, emphatically denying his interest in the NBA.
You may have heard me say this before: I absolutely have the best coaching job in sports and I plan on being at Kentucky for a long time.— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) January 11, 2016
Well that settles everything, right?
Until the Nets hire a new coach and GM, Calipari will be linked to Brooklyn. And if the Nets drag their feet on hiring anyone new until April, when the college basketball season will be over, Calipari will probably still be rumored to be a candidate to run Brooklyn.
