Charles Barkley speaks out on Donald Sterling allegations
TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley speaks out on Donald Sterling allegations.
In response to allegations about racist remarks attributed to Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling in a recorded conversation, the NBA on TNT crew addressed the allegations during halftime of Game 4 between the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks. Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley both spoke their mind on the issue as we await word from NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
Transcribed by Ben Golliver of The Point Forward, here is a quote from the Barkley video above in which he says this is the first test for Silver and calls for the suspension of Sterling if the allegations are true.
“This is the first test of Adam Silver. He’s got to suspend him right now,” Barkley said. “You can’t have this guy making statements like that. [Silver] has to suspend him and fine him immediately. He has to be suspended. … When you’re in a position of power, and you can take jobs and economic opportunities from people, that’s what crosses the line. We can’t have an NBA owner discriminating against a league — we’re a black league.”
Silver is expected to speak about the issue prior to Game 4 of the Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder.
