Clippers re-sign GM Neil Olshey
The Los Angeles Clippers announced they have re-signed general manager Neil Olshey.
Just hours after a report indicated that the Clippers were prepared to let GM Neil Olshey walk away from the team as he was a finalist for the Blazers position, it would appear that was most likely a negotiating tactic by someone.
The Clippers announced today that they have reached an agreement in principle with Olshey to retain his services as general manager. Terms of the deal were not released.
It'll be interesting to see when the details leak, and they will leak, if the team actually put him on a multi-year deal with quality compensation, or if the Clippers went their prototypical route of retaining management at below-market-value. If it's the former, it's a sign the team has put its embarrassing history behind it for the moment. If not, it's yet another sign that this is still the Clippers, they're just managing to have things go their way.
Either way, it's a good move, as Olshey has done a fantastic job and was runner-up for Executive of the Year. Maybe things are changing on the other side of Staples.
