Creighton's Grant Gibbs to miss a month with dislocated kneecap

Creighton guard Grant Gibbs was injured in Tuesday's win over DePaul, and the fear was that he might've suffered a torn ACL. But an MRI performed Wednesday showed only a dislocated kneecap, meaning Gibbs will miss about a month instead of the rest of the season.

Doug McDermott also had an MRI on Wednesday.

CBSSports.com reported earlier that McDermott has a sprained shoulder.

He's expected to play Sunday afternoon when Creighton hosts Xavier in Omaha.

"It was a good day to be a Bluejay," tweeted Creighton coach Gregg McDermott. "The news on Grant and Doug was better than expected."

Creighton is ranked 25th in the Top 25 (and one).

Gibbs is averaging 6.1 points, 4.1 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game.
