DeMarcus Cousins: 'I really don't have any confidence at all'
The Kings' DeMarcus Cousins isn't playing all that great, and he's not afraid to say it.

It'd be easy to say you're disappointed in the Kings again this year. But at this point, are you really all that surprised?
What is disappointing, though, is the step backward that DeMarcus Cousins seems to have taken. Not only has he been involved in an incident that led to a suspension and another where he was ejected, but he's not putting up numbers. And it's hard to excuse those kinds of things when you're not performing.
Cousins is shooting just 41.7 percent from the floor and has seen dips in both points and rebounds per game this season.
And he's frustrated -- especially after the Kings got whipped by 35 on Saturday by the Clippers when Cousins finished with only eight points and six rebounds. Via the Sac Bee:
“I’ve been terrible,” Cousins said bluntly but softly. “We’re losing. I don’t feel like I made improvements from last year. I really don’t have any confidence at all. I’m just trying to think my way through it, but right now, I’m not finding anything.”
Well, hey. At least you're honest.
Effort shouldn't ever be a problem for a player with Cousins' talent. Alas, it is. He's not hustling back on defense, not attacking the glass, not playing out possessions.
What's the answer other than getting traded to San Antonio? Who knows? But it's on Cousins to fix it.
If the Kings are to ever gain any respectibility, at least before blowing this current roster up and starting over again, it's going to have to come via Cousins. He's the most talented player on the roster and a guy who could legitimately be a cornerstone to build around.
I don't know what the 12 Step program for starting to play better looks like, but I would imagine admitting that you're playing terrible would be Step 1or Step 2. So Cousins has that out of the way.
