Eye on Basketball Podcast: Iverson, McGrady, and the Heat
Zach Harper and Matt Moore go over the retirements of Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady, Dwight Howard wanting to muzzle Kobe, and the Heat's summer.
With the news that Tracy McGrady is officially retiring from the NBA, Matt Moore and I decide to go over the necessity to argue about his candidacy and Allen Iverson's candidacy for the Basketball Hall of Fame. Do they both belong in the Hall of Fame? Is it OK if not everybody agrees with that? At what point was Iverson the face of the NBA, if ever? How great was the 2002-03 season from McGrady on an individual level and especially when you factor in the lack of help he had on his team?
Then we get into the offseason report of the Miami Heat. Did they do anything important this offseason? Did they need to do anything important this offseason or was standing pat the way to go? Should you expect anything from Greg Oden or would an Eddy Curry 2011-12 type season be enough for it to be a success at this point? Was amnestying Mike Miller the right move for the team? Can Rashard Lewis and James Jones make up for his absence?
